ABOUT Women:Walk with Peace

__HIKES

Enjoy beautiful scenery, clean air, and the sound of your own heart.

Personalized 1-on-1 hikes

Together, we’ll choose a trail that suits the experience you seek. Sometimes, the best walk is an easy one, short and sweet. Sometimes a challenge helps us burn away the excess. Sometimes we want the in-between. A personalized guided hike can be planned with intention to provide you with the type of experience most suited to benefit you.

Small group hikes

Participate in a shared experience with friends or with people who may become friends. Group hikes are crafted to promote connection, boost awareness of self and others, and elevate a sense of empathy and openness. Guided group hikes are typically pre-selected and appear on the calendar, but if you want to craft a group hike for a specific circle of friends, we can do that as a separate experience from our regularly scheduled group hikes.

Local mountain trails

We are blessed with an abundance of trails in the mountains around the Los Angeles area. With so many different types of trails available to us, each hike is a unique experience, selected intentionally for the journey and the destination. Hikes are planned in different locations throughout the year, at different elevations, and with different environments. Occassionally hikes will be planned in more distant locales as special events. Keep checking in to find the hike(s) right for you!

Levelled to suit you

Full descriptions of our scheduled hikes are provided in each calendar listing so you can choose the ones best suited to your ability and desired experience. If you have any questions, contact me, and I’ll give you all the information you need. I also recommend getting the AllTrails app for your phone to get even more information about our planned hikes.

__EXPERIENCE preview

Breathe Into It:

A walk in the woods weaves together our true self with nature.

We always start with intention, setting our personal and collective intentions before the hike. Most of our hikes take 3-4 hours from start to finish and are moderate, with some effort but not so strenuous as to be overwhelming. Along the way, you’ll be encouraged to practice awareness of yourself and your surroundings, to voice your needs or ask questions, and to create a deeper connection with the others sharing this experience with you and the nature that surrounds you.

Many hikes arrive at a summit with stunning views, and this is where we’ll spend some time resting and nourishing ourselves (body & spirit). Bring food to eat or even share, and enjoy a sense of accomplishment at arriving at a place of such beauty. This is when we also may get quiet to hear our deeper voice reveal truths that we may have forgotten. Mindfulness practices will ease us into an appreciation for all that we have done so far in the hike and will connect our sense of strength and peace expansively to other parts of our life.

We’ll start our descent to ensure plenty of time for a safe return. We’ll celebrate our choice to show up for ourselves by taking part in the adventure, and we’ll express appreciation for nature and it’s abundant beauty. We will always end our hikes with gratitude.

“…Fun, Meditative, and Enchanting Experience”

What made my experience with Allison so right was sharing the wonder and reverence for the variety of beings we encountered ~ the playful chipmunks, the variety of miniature blooms, the colorful birds. This last hike was slow-paced and dreamy. She led us on a trail right off Angeles Crest Highway, taking time to stop, breathe, and absorb the nourishing elements around us. Hiking with Allison was a fun, meditative, and enchanting experience. I am eager for our next crunchy-trail adventure!

FAQs

How do I know which hike is best for me?

Each hike has a description of the terrain, length, and conditions. I recommend that all of my clients get the AllTrails app on their phone. The app provides the most thorough information about the trails we’ll be hiking, with elevation, weather conditions, comments from other hikers, and photos from the trail. This is a great tool for determining which hike is for you.

Do I need any special equipment?

No specialized gear is needed, although people often bring their own trekking poles, a backpack to carry extra clothes, food and water, sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, or any other essentials, and their phone to take pictures. (Most places we go will not have reception, though.)

In the case that a hike does require specialized gear, such as a snow hike, that will be noted in the description. It is the responsibility of the attendee to provide their own gear. (NOTE: REI rents most gear you would need!)

How do I get to a hike location?

Transportation is not generally provided and is the responsibility of the participant. However, carpooling lists may be released if attendees wish to share rides.

What do I need to bring on the hike?

My first consideration is safety when advising clients on gear, clothing, and supplies. Weather conditions determine what to wear, and in SoCal, conditions can change several times during one hike. Layers are essential. Hiking boots or hiking shoes are advised. Shoes with no tread are not permitted.

Water and snacks are the next most essential things to bring. I hike with 3L of water for myself as a practice. Depending on the conditions, each person should bring 1-3L of water for themselves. Foods that provide energy and that travel easily are recommended. We usually eat at the summit to nourish oursleves for the descent, but each person is encouraged to listen to their body’s needs and eat or drink as necessary.

How much does a guided hike cost?

Fees vary based on the length of a hike, amount of preparation needed, and any additional activities included. I do offer a community pricing scale that allows people to pay what they can. Please contact me if you would like a coupon code for a discounted hike. Cost should not get in the way of anyone’s ability to experience a hike!

Can I request a hike location?

Our personalized hikes allow you to request a specific location or trail that you would like to hike. Safety, time, and level of ability are some of the considerations that inform the choice of hikes, and all of this can be discussed when planning a hike together. Ultimately, the guide may accept or decline a requested hike at their discretion.

Are hikes ever cancelled?

Hikes may be cancelled or rescheduled by the guide based on safety considerations, weather conditions, road closures, or other uncontrollable scenarios. Advance notice (ideally, 24 hours) will be provided to all attendees if a hike is cancelled, and a credit for a future hike or a full refund will be issued. In some circumstances, a hike may be cancelled the day of the hike if conditions change quickly or unexpectedly. Your safety will always be the priority in this decision, and we will do our best to communicate as early as possible.

If an attendee cancels their participation in a hike, notice must be provided at least 24 hours before the hike starts, and a credit for a future hike or a full refund will be issued (attendee’s choice). If attendee cancels less than 24 hours before the hike starts, a credit may be issued for a future hike. No refund will be issued.

Why are the hikes only for women? What if a male friend or partner wants to come?

I’m working with women right now because our voices are emerging, and I have learned so much about listening to my own voice by walking in the woods. I’m called to connect to that feminine energy in this practice.

If you would like to have a male friend or partner join you on a hike, we can plan a personalized hike separate from the public hikes on the calendar. Our men need a place to reconnect too, and I am happy to provide a healing, soul-nourishing experience to all who are open to receiving.
